Privlaka - long sandy beaches and clear Adriatic sea
Privlaka is a small tourist and fishing town and the center of the eponymous municipality in the county of Zadar in Croatia. It is located in a spacious and flat sandy peninsula that is enclosed from the north-east bay of Nin, and from the southwest by the Zadar channel. The historical city of Zadar is 18 km away and is located on the regional road Zadar-Nin-Vir. Shallow coastal waters, plenty of drinking water and the arable sandy surface is the reason for very early settlement.
Long sandy beaches, clear azure sea, numerous shallow sandy bays that contain healing mud with beneficial properties is perfect for a vacation for families with children. A special experience is an evening walk on a long, beautiful promenade that stretches along with the entire place and from which you can watch and enjoy in romantic sunsets. After that, you can taste fresh fish, clams, Dalmatian prosciutto, olives, famous cheese and excellent local wines in numerous taverns and restaurants.
The climate in Privlaka is mild, Mediterranean. Summers are hot and warm and winters generally mild. In summer, the west wind blows the mistral, which makes the days more comfortable and the heat more bearable. The characteristic north wind, the bora, blows in winter from Velebit, where the temperature can drop below zero. The attractive region enjoys the warmth of the sun and the beauty of the sunny days. It has more than 2540 hours of sunshine a year. The sea temperature in summer is 25 - 27 degrees.
For the cyclists and more active visitors, there is a 21 km cycle path running through a wide range of landscapes, including routes through fields, ideal for mountain bikes, as well as asphalt roads, offering a suitable surface for all types of cyclist. Cycling along the route is the best way to experience the beauty of this area.
Privlaka has various opportunities for playing sport. The village has two football grounds as well as a basketball and volleyball ground.
For those who love water sports, there is swimming and diving along the coast as well as waterpolo and picigin, a local game played in the shallow waters of the sandy beaches. A pleasant way to stay fit is jogging along the seaside promenade.
